Urban Matrix Architecture and Planning, P.C. offers services that address all aspects of urban redevelopment and master planning - from initial visioning and public outreach, to architecture, public space design, guidelines and zoning codes. With all aspects of detailed design and master planning, there remains a clear understanding of the implications of design decisions made at different scales. Architecture, for example, needs to achieve both the broader urban design goals and the particular requirements of the building program. Similarly, the master plan must yield land parcels that can properly accommodate modern buildings within today’s economic climate.

Our experience with multiple scales of design and development is what allows us to craft successful urban design strategies for cities as well as create architectural solutions that add value to individual properties by capitalizing on the opportunities of the urban context. This continual cross-referencing between the objectives of the larger scale and the details of the smaller scale provides a stronger sense of purpose to our architecture and greater strength to our urban design.

Good design cannot be achieved in a vacuum, so we make every effort to gather as much information as possible especially from those who live in and around a development site. Even projects that are built as-of-right will encounter tremendous public opposition if it is felt that a new development ignores the needs and objectives of a particular community. Our services include the facilitation of a constructive dialogue between public and private entities with an aim to achieve a design strategy that benefits all stakeholders.
